Iniesta Denies Claims President of Barcelona
Barcelona is still struggling with the problem of player contracts. In addition to Lionel Messi’s future, the Catalans are also in talks to renew Andres Iniesta’s playmaker contract.
Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, had stated that Iniesta and Messi had agreed to stay at Camp Nou because in principle the two players did not mind. He admits it’s only a matter of time to wait for the signature.
However Iniesta, whose contract with Barca runs out in the summer of next year, denied Bartomeu’s claim. This 33-year-old player confirmed that until now he has not met the clarity.
“Can I confirm a contract renewal agreement with Bartomeu? No, I can not say that,” Iniesta told reporters as quoted Diario Sport, after returning to the Spanish national team in the 2018 World Cup Qualifying event.
“There’s no truth about that.”
Iniesta has spent 21 years at Camp Nou after attending La Masia academy from Albacete. To date, he has appeared in 632 official matches with contributions of 54 goals and 135 assists.
If there is no new deal, Iniesta will have a contract free status in the summer of 2018. The situation is gaining attention from Serie A giants Juventus, who are preparing a move to hook him for free.
Atletico Madrid Speaking of Transfer Diego Costa
Atletico Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo, is optimistic it can get a deal with Chelsea to recruit Diego Costa before the close of the transfer market this summer.
The Spanish national team striker had been invited to leave from Stamford Bridge.
He no longer returned to training after Antonio Conte declared Costa not included in his big plans at Chelsea.
Atletico is currently serving a ban on players until January and is only possible to bring Costa on loan.
“Costa is still under contract with other clubs, it’s a complicated matter and as long as Chelsea do not agree to release it, he will remain their player,” Cerezo said as quoted by Bolasport.com from metro.co.uk.
“Am I pessimistic or optimistic about the effort to bring Costa? I am always optimistic,” he said.
President Deportivo Sure Lucas Perez Returns to Riazor
President Deportivo La Coruna, Tino Fernandez, feel confident Arsenal striker Lucas Perez will return to Estadio Riazor. He promised to try hard to sign his former players this summer.
Perez Arsenal purchased at a price of 19 million euros (about USD 288.582 billion) in the summer of last year. But the 28-year-old’s performance is not as expected so the Gunners intend to sell it.
This opens up opportunities for Deportivo. La Liga clubs are willing to hold them back because Perez had been a club icon with a notch 19 goals in all competitions in the 2015/2016 season.
“I wanted Lucas back in. I have never hidden the fact that if we could buy it back, we’ll do it. If we can do it this year, we will do so; if not, then next year. I’m sure Perez would go back to Depor someday , “Fernandez said in an interview with Marca.
“It will not be easy because he has a big contract and he is in a club that pays him a lot of money.”
Last season, Perez scored only one goal in the Premier League from two chances to be a starter. He is also linked with Deportivo’s rivals in La Liga, Sevilla, this summer.
